MANOR SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION FOR £15M HOTEL IN HULL

Manor Property Group moves to build a 132 bedroom international brand hotel in the city centre creating 60 new permanent jobs.

Mark Bailey, Head of Hotel Development at Manor said: "This is fantastic news for Hull in the midst of a recession. The development in Hull means Manor will build a much needed high quality hotel in the centre of the city, which is more good news for Hull.

"The development will support the existing business and academic community, the emerging renewable energy sector and provide a purpose built venue for celebrations and events, preventing the loss of business and leisure visitors to hotels outside the city due to lack of suitable accommodation" he continued.

The project is expected to create 60 permanent jobs in addition to employment of around 200 construction and ancillary trades' people, and has a development value of £15 million.

Manor says the hotel development will not only create long term jobs but will also help to grow the local economy as more business and leisure visitors are accommodated in the city centre.

The hotel includes a gym and an innovative state of the art, flexible, conference and events facility which incorporates its own private garden and will be capable of accommodating up to 300 delegates or 250 diners. This will help meet growing demand from the local business community, the university and external conference organisers; it will also provide a new attractive space for local celebrations and events.

An application for planning permission has been submitted to Hull City Council for the development of an internationally branded hotel on the corner of Osborne Street and Anne Street.

Manor's proposals for the hotel are based on an innovative design by Makin Architecture from Manchester

Ray Makin said: "We are delighted to be able to design such a high quality hotel which will help to regenerate this part of Hull city centre. We see the building as elegant and stylish, finished with materials that will exude class whilst withstanding the elements. The extensive use of glass is intended to create a lively and vibrant street frontage designed to be welcoming to the people of Hull and visitors to the city."

Manor hopes to commence construction in April 2012 with a view to opening for business in July 2013.
